It was a very early spring evening, March 9, 2019.  I was bundled in a coat, hat and gloves hiding behind a tree in the woods along a very steep river bank!  This picture below was my view.  I was about to capture a SURPRISE PROPOSAL!! I was so excited I could not contain myself.  In my 12 years of owning a photography business this was my FIRST surprise proposal. When Reid contacted me about doing this I just knew we had to make it work.  It was a bucket list item for me for sure! I had to rearrange a flight and get creative with my schedule but we made it happen.   I’ve known Reid since he was about 12 years old, he went to school with my kids and his mom is a sweet friend of mine.  I’ve been able to watch him grow up into an awesome young man.   Reid built this secret deck way out in the woods along the river on his parents property.  He used all kinds of different wood he had available and did it all on his own.

We met out here a few days before he popped the question and figured out all the details with his parents, his awesome dogs and a generator for the lights!   Rachel’s family were all hiding down the street waiting for the text that Reid and Rachel had arrived and were heading to the secret spot. I get a text that the couple was heading my way!  All the planning, hard work, trial runs, tree-choosing, generator lugging, leaf-raking-so-I-could-walk-stealthy, and tree-limb-chopping-so-we-could-get-the-perfect-shot had paid OFF!!  The rest of the story is told in the pictures below.  It’s a beautiful story of what true love, being intentional, family support and a future of hope looks like.  Best wishes to the happy couple!
