Chasing Fireflies ~ A Timberdoodle Review

chasing fireflies, a timberdoodle review

We are once again so thrilled to be part of the official Timberdoodle Blog Team for the 2019-2020 school year! Even though we are no longer a homeschooling family, we will still be reviewing fun learning games and family fun products! This Chasing Fireflies game sounded like a perfect way to spend a summer evening with the neighbors.

Two teams are needed to play the game since there are two colors of fireflies.  It’s a classic game of hide-and-seek with a twist!   Each firefly comes with batteries and has an on/off switch.

As always, Bentley the World’s Cutest Dog sniffed and approved this fabulous Timberdoodle product! Two paws up!

Say hello to our fantastic product testers – also known as the neighbors! 🙂

The big kids hid the fireflies for the little kids. They are the cutest little fireflies that flash on and off.  We played the game right at dusk, but as the evening grew darker the game seemed even more fun!

Ready . . . Set . . . Chase those fireflies!!

The boys team WON!!

After the first round was over, they asked to play again…..and again……and again! I was actually really surprised at much the kids enjoyed this game.  Our group ranged in age from 5 years old to 15. Its recommended for ages 4 and up so a very family friendly game that can span across age groups.

We even managed to chase and capture a few REAL fireflies!

Chasing fireflies is a classic part of every childhood – and this game makes it even more fun!

Overall, this game was a huge hit! There was a minor annoyance when I opened the package, most of the fireflies weren’t working.  I had to open each battery compartment and readjust the batteries that must have jostled loose during shipment. After that they all worked perfectly fine. They even were thrown into the air and across the yard and still seemed to work just fine.

Each kiddo rated the game a solid TEN on a scale of 1-10.  When I asked the kids how the game might be any better, several of them responded that the faces on the fireflies were a little creepy.  I think they are actually pretty cute!  This game is certainly going to be pulled out again and again around here on those long summer nights.  We are so ready for summer to begin and a game of Chasing Fireflies from Timberdoodle was the perfect start to summer!
