Portrait session?

Choosing a location for your photography session is much easier than you think.  The first thing to consider in making this decision is what are the kinds of places you or your family enjoy?  What feels most like "you"?  Whether it be a rocky creek, a grassy field, an historic mansion, along a river, a downtown urban street, or even the beach, there are plenty of options to choose from! The state of Maryland is one of the few states that offers just about every setting you can think of.  From the shores of the Atlantic, to the mountain ranges and everything in between! Maryland is filled with natural beauty that will enhance YOUR natural beauty in your photos!

The next thing to consider is the time of year.  Every season has a certain beauty of its own and I enjoy capturing your most important moments throughout the year! The stunning east coast autumns are a popular time for portrait sessions.  I have some sneaky little tucked away spots depending on the time of year that I can suggest, but sometimes even your own backyard, driveway or neighborhood sidewalks can be the perfect setting.

For Senior Portraits or a College Graduation, consider using your school as your backdrop. Run track or play soccer? Track and field settings are perfect for sports photos!

A dramatic background can really enhance your photos as well and bring a fun energy such as in Senior, Dance or Engagement Sessions.

Sometimes - a simple blank canvas as a backdrop is needed so that all the focus is on the beautiful subject.  Once you have considered all of these things you probably have a great idea of what kind of location you prefer for your portrait session.

Photography locations can be very deceptive! In some of the above images, we were in a client's driveway, in a church parking lot with some flowering trees, or on top of a parking garage.  Try and think outside the box when it comes to location.  Do you have access to places not available to the public? We don't need beauty completely surrounding us to catch some great photos. I prefer to keep the backdrop as simple as possible so all the focus is on YOU!

For maternity photos, a calm and serene setting will help tell the story in your photos of the love you are feeling for your spouse and your new baby.  Places along the water are always perfect for maternity portraits.
